Vacancy description:

Blaenavon Medical Practice
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic colleague to join our friendly and supportive team working in Blaenavon, South Wales. We are currently a four-partner practice, with a list size of 6,250. We are offering a salaried post for one year, with view to partnership after the first year. The number of sessions will be 4 – 6. Start date is flexible for the right candidate.
We are an undergraduate teaching practice, and our students come from Cardiff, and occasionally Oxford, Universities. We are a Postgraduate Training and foundation training Practice, and one of the partners is the Gwent VTS Programme Director, so there are excellent educational links and opportunities for teaching within the practice. We work from a newly built building with lovely mountain views. This is a new Primary Care Centre which we share with social services, the local authority, an optician, a dentist, a pharmacist and the local health board (who will provide sexual health/ contraceptive clinics; dietetics; podiatry; health visitors; and mental health, district and school nurses). This provides excellent opportunities for liaison and integrated patient care. There will be no requirement to buy in to the building.
We can offer:
• Regular clinical/quality meetings
• Opportunities to develop specialist interests or become involved with teaching
• Opportunity for partnership with 12 months mutual assessment
• 7 week’s annual leave and 1 week’s study leave
• Hillside location with wonderful walking country nearby
• World Heritage Site on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park
• Excellent relations with the extended primary care team
• Team of 3 nurses and 1 HCA, with nurse-led minor illness clinics
• Motivated and friendly management team with experienced Practice manager
• Low staff turnover, and an extremely friendly ancillary team
• Ongoing support and mentoring for newly qualified GP’s
• High achieving QOF and Enhanced Services
• Part- time pharmacist support for the repeat prescribing system and prescribing queries
